| BoatHandler is a thorough, step-by-step program to teach the skills of basic boat control in close quarters…around piers, slips, and other boats. It addresses docking and departure situations in calm conditions, in wind, and in current. BoatHandler covers different propulsion types (single inboard, twin inboards, single/twin stern drives), since each one requires unique skills.
Until recently, there was no standard curriculum for professional on-water instructors to follow when teaching basic close-quarters boat-handling skills to beginners.
Developed by Capt. Jim Battye, BoatHandler employs the techniques he has used and honed over decades of on-water instruction…both his course content, and his training techniques. BoatHandler employs Capt. Battye's unique four-step Progressive Training Method to keep the student moving forward at the proper pace, as the student's ability grows. And, BoatHandler's Safety Terms show the trainer how to keep the learning process safe, as the student's skills are gained.
BoatHandler Teacher's Course is available to teaching captains, boat-handling schools, and other professional groups which are looking for a proven, nationally recognized curriculum to teach, in this critical aspect of safe boating.
